Only 19 units, over 800 horsepower, and a battery weighing just a little over 6 kg. The TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight, based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S, is far more than just a supercar – it’s a track-focused machine, uncompromisingly engineered for performance and lightweight construction. From the beginning, it was clear to TECHART: the battery had to live up to the same high standards. The solution came from us – LithiumNEXT.
When TECHART approached us with the task of developing a suitable battery, their requirement was as straightforward as it was ambitious: “Build a battery that works flawlessly, anywhere in the world – on the road and on the track, in all weather conditions, without compromise.” This is exactly the kind of challenge that drives us.
The result of our close collaboration is a custom-developed LiFePO4 lightweight battery that sets new standards in terms of weight, performance, and everyday usability. Weighing just around 6.5 kg, with a nominal capacity of 40Ah and an impressive 1600 CCA of cold-cranking power, our battery brings motorsport technology to the street. For us, the key was not to chase the lightest possible weight at all costs, but rather to strike the ideal balance between lightweight construction, ruggedness, and reliable usability – whether on track days, country roads, German autobahns, or, if the driver demands it – even in winter. This versatility is a core element of our development philosophy.
The battery is based on our proven A123 cell technology and is fully handcrafted in Germany. Our purpose-built Dual-BMS system was developed specifically to integrate seamlessly with the sophisticated electrical architecture and intelligent alternator control systems found in modern Porsche models such as the 992 series. This allows for a true plug-and-play solution that works flawlessly with regenerative braking systems and the integrated battery sensor (IBS).
We are particularly proud of the close partnership with TECHART throughout the development and testing phases. In continuous coordination with their engineering teams and based on thousands of test kilometers in the prototype vehicle, we created a product tailored precisely to the needs of the GTstreet R Flyweight. This project marked a major milestone for us. On one hand, it represents a successful collaboration with one of the world’s most respected Porsche refinement specialists. On the other, the battery we developed for TECHART laid the technical foundation for our current flagship model: the LithiumNEXT 9XX Clubsport Battery – purpose-built for demanding use in modern Porsche vehicles. Without the Flyweight project, there likely wouldn’t be a 9XX Clubsport today.
Our partnership with TECHART once again proved how essential true collaboration is in the high-end automotive sector. The shared commitment to quality, function, and design was evident at every stage – and led to a product that both sides can be proud of.
“The fact that TECHART chose LithiumNEXT was no coincidence. It was a conscious decision – for reliability, for true ‘Made in Germany’ craftsmanship, for motorsport expertise, and for the ability to deliver a custom solution even in the most complex projects."
